Making a mark with your life? Watch out for erasers!

Succeeding in any area of life (career, marriage, family, business, church) requires us to overcome the efforts of people and events that try to pull us down. How we choose to respond to these is one of the important decisions we make.

Hey, don’t let them scare you! Charles Dodgson once said, “If you limit your actions in life to things that nobody could possibly find fault with, you will not do much.” In review of my life, I have found that nothing significant has ever been accomplished without some controversy, without criticism, without challenges or rogue winds.

The truth is, many good ideas or projects have been lost or given up on because people couldn’t stand the “heat in the kitchen” … criticism or hurdles of events.

Here’s a fact: Life is full of challenges. Expecting life to treat us completely fair because we are good people is somewhat like expecting a bull not to attack us because we are a vegetarian.

Reminder: If we are overly afraid of criticism or challenging events, we will do very little and have few thrilling experiences. If we want a place in the sunshine of life’s joys, we will have to expect some blisters and some sand kicked in our face. Comfortable, no! However, I think that criticism and challenging events are a compliment in that they seem to always come about when I am doing some things right.

Challenge: Don’t let the erasers wipe out your dreams, progress, calling, stamina, decision to change, vision… you get the drift.
